Product Description
Silica gel is a highly active adsorbent material whose main component is silicon dioxide. It is typically produced by reacting sodium silicate with sulfuric acid, followed by a series of post-processing steps including aging and acid soaking. Silica gel is an amorphous substance characterized by transparent, irregularly shaped spherical particles. Its chemical formula is mSiO2·nH2O. The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel endow it with numerous unique properties that are difficult to replicate in other similar materials: high adsorption capacity, excellent thermal stability, chemical inertness, and relatively high mechanical strength. The silica gel desiccant features an extremely fine, network-like pore structure internally. These capillary pores can absorb moisture and retain it through physical attraction, making silica gel widely used as a desiccant in industries such as aerospace components, computer parts, electronics, leather goods, pharmaceuticals, and food processing to prevent moisture and dampness. Even if the silica gel desiccant is completely immersed in water, it will neither soften nor liquefy.
It is non-toxic, odorless, non-corrosive, and non-polluting, allowing it to come into direct contact with any material. The silica gel desiccant is most effective in environments with room temperature (20–32°C) or high temperatures (60–90°C). It can reduce the relative humidity of the environment to around 40%, making this desiccant suitable for a wide range of applications.
Safety performance of silicone: Silicone can have a drying effect on human skin; therefore, it is essential to wear appropriate work attire when handling it. If silicone comes into contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Silica gel desiccants are the only type of desiccant certified by the U.S. FDA that can be used directly in contact with food and pharmaceutical products. In the event of accidental ingestion, these desiccants will not harm the body, will not be absorbed by the body, and can be naturally eliminated from the body through feces.
